Groundwork Books functions equal parts as a bookstore and a community space for students and individuals local to UCSD. We sell books from a variety of genres and topics, including philosophy, political theory, feminist theory, art, cultural critique, and other radical literature. These books are sold to the community at affordable prices and we even take restock requests from the public. Groundwork Books also provides several free zines, pamphlets, newsletters, and brochures from a multitude of activist orgs on campus and in the wider San Diego area. Besides selling books and related material, the store hosts several radical orgs on campus, such as: SJP, USAS, Cops Off Campus, SCE, Books-Thru-Bars, and many others. We seek to foster radical pedagogy by hosting teach-in groups where members present on an issue or topic relevant to leftism and anti-hegemonic struggle. Such topics have included radical feminism, inequity in academia, and Palestinian history. Additionally, Groundwork Books encourages interested students in volunteering for the store. If you wish to volunteer, you can enter the store during operating hours and ask a member who will set you up.
